截止到1998年2月，英国已有650家企业取得了ISO 14001认证证书。德国西门子、芬兰诺基亚、瑞士汽巴及嘉巴集团等都要求其供货方进行ISO 14001认证。
As of 1998 February, the British had 650 enterprises to obtain the ISO 14001 certificate. Germany Siemens, Nokia, Finland Ciba and Ka Ba group all require the supplier for ISO 14001 certification.
美国 截止1998年2月，美国已有111家企业通过了ISO 14001认证。美国能源部要求其合约商必须全部通过ISO 14001认证，大的企业集团，如：福特、克莱勒、通用、施贵宝等都要求其在全球的生产厂商通过ISO 14001认证。

日本 截止1998年3月，日本已有862个组织通过了ISO 14001认证，其中53.1%是机械电器行业，其次是一般机构和化工业。松下电器总部已要求其所有海内外的子公司于1998年底前通过ISO 14001认证，从而适应新的市场竞争形式；欧姆龙公司于1996年取得ISO 14001认证，其全球28个子公司都于1998年之前取得认证；其他如三洋、索尼、佳能、夏普、东芝等大的集团公司都在积极实施环境管理体系认证。
