EUREPGAP于1997年由欧洲零售商协会EUREP（Euro-Retailer Produce Working Group）发起，其目的在于促进良好农业操作（Good Agricultural Practice）的发展。

   EUREPGAP自诞生以来一直保持着强劲的发展势头。自2002年起，经过短短两年的时间，到2004年6月底，通过EUREPGAP认证的面积达到了724,247公顷，是2003年底的1.9倍。
