从教育部获悉，今后我国高等教育将以加入《华盛顿协议》为契机，在工科主要专业领域逐步扩大认证范围，积极采用国际化的标准，进一步提高高等工程教育国际化水平，持续提升高等工程教育人才培养质量。

据介绍，今年6月在韩国首尔召开的国际工程联盟大会上，《华盛顿协议》全会一致通过接纳我国为该协议签约成员，我国成为该协议组织第21个成员。这在一定程度上表明我国工程教育的质量得到了国际社会的认可。

据了解，目前，我国开设工科专业的本科高校有1047所，占本科高校总数的91.5%；高校共开设工科本科专业14085个，占全国本科专业点总数的32%；高等工程教育的本科在校生452.3万人，研究生60万人，占高校本科以上在校生规模的32%。

从2005年起我国开始开展工程教育专业认证试点，成立了由76名教育界和产业界专家共同组成的全国工程教育专业认证专家委员会以及机械类、化工类等14个认证分委员会，分别负责组织开展相关专业领域的认证工作,在学生、培养目标、毕业要求、持续改进、课程体系、师资队伍和支持条件等7个方面与国际标准紧密对接。
