1997年欧洲零售商农产品工作组（EUREP）在零售商的倡导下提出了“良好农业规范”,（Good Agricultural Practices,简称GAP）GAP标准主要针对初级农产品生产的种植业和养殖业，它是以危害预防（HACCP）、良好卫生规范、可持续发展农业和持续改良农场体系为基础，避免在农产品生产过程中受到外来物质的严重污染和危害。该标准主要涉及大田作物种植、水果和蔬菜种植、畜禽养殖、牛羊养殖、奶牛养殖、生猪养殖、家禽养殖、畜禽公路运输等农业产业。ChinaGAP认证分为2个级别的认证：一级认证要求满足适用模块中所有适用的一级控制点标，并且在所有适用模块（包括适用的基础模块）中，除果蔬类以外的产品应至少符合每个单个模块适用的二级控制点数量的90%的要求，对于果蔬类产品应至少符合所有适用模块中适用的二级控制点总数的90%的要求，所有产品均不设定三级控制点的最低符合百分比；二级认证要求所有产品应至少符合所有适用模块中适用的一级控制点总数的95%的要求，不设定二级控制点、三级控制点的最低符合进分比。

ChinaGAP certification is divided into 2 levels of certification: a certified to meet the requirements of application module all applicable level control point marking, and in all applicable module (including the application of the base module ), in addition to fruit and vegetable products other than should at least meet each individual module applies the level two control points number 90% requirements, for fruit and vegetable products should at least meet all applicable module applied in the two control point 90% of the total demand, all products are not set the level three control points with the lowest percentage; level two certification requirements for all products should at least meet all applicable module to apply a control point 95% of the total demand, not set the level two control points, the level three control points with the ratio of the minimum.
